He had just saved her from a fire in her house, rescuing her by carrying her out of the house into her front yard, while he continued to fight the fire. She is pregnant.
The firefighter was afraid of her at first, because he had never been around a Doberman before. When he finally got done putting the fire out, he sat down to catch his breath and rest.
A photographer from the Charlotte, North …Carolina newspaper, “The Observer,” noticed this red Doberman in the distance looking at the fireman. He saw her walking straight toward the fireman and wondered what she was going to do. As he raised his camera, she came up to the tired man who had saved her life and the lives of her babies, and kissed him, just as the photographer snapped this photograph….

Many of the tributes to Steve Jobs, who died on Wednesday, have mentioned Apple’s famous “1984” Super Bowl ad. Apple also created a number of memorable print-ad campaigns, many of which appeared in the pages of The New Yorker. Click here for a look back, from the Macintosh Personal Computer to the iMac.

Seriously, being married has much more benefits than being single. The main advantages of being married are emotional stability, family and finances. The home and family gives comfort zone and energy to restore. Also, love is one of strong advantages from being marriage. For instance, people who are single have chance to have lovers, however their love is not endurable for life time. On the other hand, being married, love is committed. :D A.Aviiki

“Chile is a very poor country, and it’s time for the government to start helping out its students financially,” José Manuel Morales, university senator at Universidad de Chile, told The Santiago Times. “The main goal of this demonstration is to get the state to take charge of higher education.”
This has got to be one of my favorite ‘come at me bro’ photos. Love his attitude in this.

I had been busy lately with work that I did not get a chance to read book. So I bought the CD, listen to it while driving. It’s one of the most practical leadership ‘book’ I’ve ever had.
So many leadership books and resources talk about top down leadership (positional leaders) and this book equips YOU to lead and influence people from where ever you are in the organization. As a leader, influence should be viewed more like a ripple effect in water… it goes in every direction from the point of impact. This book shows you how to have influence and impact in 360 Degrees of direction (How to lead up, lead down and lead across).
Preview it.

Perception

Something to think about….
Washington, DC Metro Station on a cold January morning in 2007. The man with a violin played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time approximately. 2 thousand people went through the station, most of them on their way to work. After 3 minutes a middle aged man noticed there was a musician playing. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds and then hurried to meet his schedule.
4 minutes later:
The violinist received his first dollar: a woman threw the money in the hat and, without stopping, continued to walk.
6 minutes:
A young man leaned against the wall to listen to him, then looked at his watch and started to walk again.
10 minutes:
A 3-year old boy stopped but his mother tugged him along hurriedly. The kid stopped to look at the violinist again, but the mother pushed hard and the child continued to walk, turning his head all the time. This action was repeated by several other children. Every parent, without exception, forced their children to move on quickly.
45 minutes:The musician played continuously.  Only 6 people stopped and listened for a short while. About 20 gave money but continued to walk at their normal pace.  The man collected a total of $32.
1 hour:
He finished playing and silence took over. No one noticed. No one applauded, nor was there any recognition.
No one knew this, but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the greatest musicians in the world. He played one of the most intricate pieces ever written, with a violin worth $3.5 million dollars. Two days before Joshua Bell sold out a theater in Boston where the seats averaged $100.
This is a true story. Joshua Bell playing incognito in the metro station was organized by the Washington Post as part of a social experiment about perception, taste and people’s priorities.
The questions raised:
*In a common place environment at an inappropriate hour, do we perceive beauty?
*Do we stop to appreciate it?
*Do we recognize talent in an unexpected context?
One possible conclusion reached from this experiment could be this:
If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world, playing some of the finest music ever written, with one of the most beautiful instruments ever made.
How many other things are we missing?

I did that, always stop and enjoy the music for at least 10 minutes and thats why I’m always late :)

He Turns The Crisis Into An Opportunity

Glad to see that the team has worked it out. We were discussed about it couple of months ago to set up this and today we all make it happen. At that time, I raised up my concern when I flipped the magazine that lay at the fashion studio. I realized foreign fashion models were widely employed to pose for local major labels. Certainly this is not a good sign for local models.

It is nothing wrong neither with the physical appearance nor the working ethic of local models. But it has been a trend and became a commercial practice to phrase their label as a foreign brand. This is not a new thing and we can see it everywhere, every corner of the street; and it has been applied to most of the major labels in Malaysia. The rising of this trend was a crisis for those in local modeling world.

Consumer may not notice it initially but somehow they (include me too) are not blind. It may works at the beginning to get their attention but without raising the bar of quality standard, they will know how good the apparel (or product) is. And of course, they will realize it sooner or later, it is a local made.

I’m not making a point that the local made is not as good as the foreign brand. Question is why the local manufacturer didn’t invest in producing a good quality but invest double or even more of their production cost on advertisement and looking for foreign models in order to create a foreign brand image. With an advantage of that foreign image, product price is highly marked up even with such a degraded quality.

For a publisher ventured an in-house model’s corner from the ground up; from inviting, selecting, compiling the model’s profile, negotiating to pursuing client to reckon an in-house local models, invested much time and energy in this whole work, does not gain any profit at all. But KK is so determined to drive this. He made me realized that everyone should have an ethic of social responsibility. That responsibility comes 1st and profit is secondary. It is difficult but it can be done. And of course, the profit will be gained in near future, it just a matter of time. He even gave opportunity to new comers, putting the best effort convinced client to give a try on local young models.

If everyone can play a role of social responsibility either in their work place or daily life, the world will be different. (You know, not just limited and driven by Corporate, not just talking about benefit, dollar & cent at all times). And the way you see the world will be different too. As for KK, the satisfaction that he has gained in this mission was priceless.

I have a wild thought lately and I told KK: “I love the concept of “Everyone can fly!” (promoted by AirAsia), what if Everyone can be a model?! I m sure this is easier than making everyone fly.”
KK smiled at me and he has a same thought. And this will become their next mission. =)

Bravo to KK & Team, Keep it up!

Just Believe

There was a time I got myself stuck in the middle when I carried out one of the extreme sport, although I have had ensure that a proper procedure of safety precaution were in-placed, but things may not go smoothly sometimes. I can’t move forward or backward, and I can’t reach to anybody to get help either. At that time, I realized I was in a deep shit; I have exposed my life in a risk. I could have been killed if I don’t handle it immediately and properly. I was very nervous and shaky (I still can remember my heart beat was very fast at that moment). I understood that I need to take an immediate action and do it all by myself. I couldn’t think, I just knew that I don’t want to die…certainly not at this time. I just whispered inside my heart repeatedly: “Breathe and believe, breathe and believe, I can do it, oh Yes, I can do it!”

I felt calm and I tried hard to do the best whatever I can. Amazingly I was able to do it, which was beyond my ability. I have this amazing experienced and it made me realized that it can be done, as long as I BELIEVED in myself, and when you have pushed yourself to the limit, your ability may even go beyond your imagination.

I love to do those extreme sports, over and over again, simply because I can discover a different strength that lived inside me. Not only the physical strength, but the brain power!
