Many of the tributes to Steve Jobs, who died on Wednesday, have mentioned Apple’s famous “1984” Super Bowl ad. Apple also created a number of memorable print-ad campaigns, many of which appeared in the pages of The New Yorker. Click here for a look back, from the Macintosh Personal Computer to the iMac.

Umbro World Cup Soccer Wives & Girlfriends As Model
Umbro knows how to market sportswear! The apparel company has launched a new line of World Cup Soccer themed shirts (or “kits”) in honor of the seven nations that have won the title and they’ve gathered wives/girfriends/baby mammas of players from those national teams to model them – sans pants.
Commonly referred to as WAGs across the pond (Wives and Girlfriends of sportsmen – almost always in reference to football/soccer) these young women are the creme de la creme of babedom and certainly know how to look good wearing just a shirt, shoes and socks! These seven sexy women from all over the globe show young boys everywhere that winning the World Cup isn’t the only reason to become a professional soccer player! *Click photo to view in high res.
Watch: KLM Economy Comfort Invisible Chair Illusion
KLM airlines has launched a new “‘Economy Comfort’ zone in response to customer demands for greater comfort and more choice in Economy Class on intercontinental flights.” To publicize their new spaces on board (i.e. up to ten centimeters more legroom and back supports that can recline twice as far), they hired magician Ramana to perform his famous levitation trick (sitting on what looks to be an invisible chair) at the Manchester Airport. Clever!
As for the trick, that’s Ramana’s secret, unless you can figure it out from [this video]. I really enjoy seeing people’s reactions on this.
Travel with words, meet the world.
A Brazilian ad agency has designed a simple and clever campaign for Penguin Books. Using only letters on the posters, one can easily identity monuments or a characteristic transport from each city mentioned. The concept is well-executed because you can imagine pictures from words, which is similar to the goal of a book.
